Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – Addiction Medicine

Reports To: Chief of Addiction Services
Classification: Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt

Position Summary

Avance Care is seeking a compassionate and experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Physician Assistant specializing in addiction medicine to provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders. The provider will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and medication management.
  • Diagnose and treat mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications and medication-assisted treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine when appropriate.
  • Monitor treatment progress, medication effectiveness, and patient outcomes.
  • Review the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) and maintain compliance with DEA and state regulations.
  • Order and interpret drug screenings and other diagnostic tests.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and provide patient and family education.
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate with behavioral health providers and refer patients to specialists as needed.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Nursing (PMHNP) or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current, unrestricted state NP or PA license.
  • Board certification required.
  • Active DEA registration required.
  • Experience treating psychiatric and substance use disorders preferred.
  • Experience with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and buprenorphine prescribing preferred.
