Job Purpose:  Provide medical care to infants, children, and adolescents. Diagnose and treat illnesses, administer vaccinations, prescribe medications, advise patients and families on health maintenance, provide education on disease prevention and health promotion, and collaborate with other medical professionals to ensure the best possible care for their patients.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive medical services for patients, regardless of age or sex, on continuing basis:
    • Elicits and records information about patient’s medical history and current condition
    • Examines patients using medical instruments and equipment
    • Formulates differential diagnostic plans
    • Orders, executes, and interprets various tests, analyses, and diagnostics images to diagnose the patient’s condition
    • Interprets examination findings/test results and implements treatment plans
    • Approves/disapproves subspecialty referrals
  • Administers or prescribes treatments and medications.
  • Promotes health by advising patients on evidence-based health promotion/disease prevention guidance
  • Inoculates and vaccinates patients to immunize patients from communicable disease.
  • Provides medical care which is evidence based and follows value-based principles of care
  • Refers patients to medical specialist for consultation when necessary for patient’s well-being.
  • Practices cultural competency regarding diverse patient base
